President's Message

Mississippi ASHRAE Members,

I hope everyone enjoyed a great Summer this year. We are excited to start the year for the chapter. I’d like to start off by thanking our president from last year, Thomas Wiygul, on all his hard work representing the MS ASHRAE chapter. Because of his dedication, Thomas and our chapter received several awards and recognitions of excellence at Region VII CRC which was held in Louisville, KY this July.

We will continue our monthly meetings at the same time (the 3rd Wednesday of the month) and at the same location (Mama Hamil’s) starting this September 20th. The year will kick off with a presentation by Joel Faulkner of Honeywell on the subject of ‘ASHRAE Guideline 36 from a Controls’ Contractor’s Perspective’. This is a guideline created by ASHRAE to try to develop standardized control sequences for HVAC systems. We’re eager to hear Joel’s take on this. The remaining dates, speakers, and topics are posted on our MS ASHRAE website. I encourage you all to read through them and try to make it to all our meetings so we can make sure our presenters’ time is well used.

As always, we will not meet in December, and we will have the golf tournament in April 2024. We are planning to have a different type of meeting in March. We will have a joint meeting between the MS chapter and the Memphis chapter. This will be held at the University of Mississippi on March 27th, 2024. Currently the plan is for this to be at least a ‘half day’ event with two (2) sessions followed by a round table panel discussion. There is a lot of preparation and planning going on for this by your chapter officers and committee chairs. We would love to show some appreciation for the time that they have volunteered to manage this logistically by having a strong turnout of participation from our members.

I am excited to serve as this year’s president. With the great group of officers and chairs we have, it should make for a great and productive year. Please visit the MS ASHRAE chapter website often to be on the lookout for updates, upcoming events, etc. regarding our chapter.

I look forward to seeing you all at our first meeting.

 Murphy Guillotte
